Our research facility located in St-Laurent, Quebec, has an immediate opening for a Coating Evaluation Technician. Many of our Research and Development projects involve a wide variety of leading edge processes and analysis that offer an opportunity for a successful candidate to demonstrate their ability and advance within the company.
Reporting to the Director Montreal Facility, you will be responsible for all aspects of the coating evaluation laboratory including preparing metallurgical and other testing samples, evaluating samples, upkeep of equipment, selection of new equipment, assisting Engineers and Scientists with assignments, providing support for the production process, sourcing and evaluating new technologies for the coating and evaluation process, creating and modifying programs within Image analysis software, evaluating current test methods for areas of improvement and perform testing to various specifications (including ASTM, internal and Customer), and produce reports as per international standards or customer requirements. Other support roles for this position include assisting the I.T. group and the shipping/receiving function in the Montreal research facility.
This position calls for a self motivated, detail oriented individual who has exemplary analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. You are must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Clemex Image Analysis software with the ability to write macros in basic computer programming.
A basic knowledge of vacuum technology, six sigma techniques, and the aerospace engine industry would be an asset.
An Engineering Technician diploma with a background in metallurgy and three years of experience with laboratory equipment operation and procedures in a similar position are required.

General Responsibilities
• Pre-coating surface preparation of components
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment and fixtures utilized for the preparation of components for coating
• Operation of Automated Cathodic Arc Physical Vapor Deposition Coating Machine
• Ensure that all paperwork and records meet customer contract requirements and job routing instructions
• All work is to be conducted under a strict quality process system
Specific Duties
• Assembly of substrates into fixtures
• Monitoring of coating parameters during production runs and record any applicable information required
• Responsible to follow specific processing procedures, and detect malfunctions or imperfections through surveillance of machinery and materials
• Must follow prescribed work methods or explicit instructions
Qualifications
• Manufacturing experience an asset
• Must be able to work in a team environment
• Must be well organized
• Ability to operate a Computer is required
• Ability and willingness to work shifts is required
• High attention to detail quality required
• Must meet requirements for Controlled Goods licensing
• Experience working in a quality assurance regulated environment required
You will be responsible for receiving and shipping, assisting in the coordination and preparation of inventory for processing under MPT's Quality System.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will be required to update computer files and records for inventory movements, assist in month end inventory counts and reconciliations.
This position calls for general knowledge of customs documents and requirements with strong computer skills especially Excel with exemplary communication and interpersonal skills. Ideally, you have two years experience in a Receiving and Shipping department and a high school diploma. You are a detailed individual and able to meet our Controlled Goods requirements with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
